Easy Installation
A Luxair plasma filter is a smart, long-term upgrade for recirculating cooker hoods — especially in kitchens where ducting outside isn't possible or preferred. Instead of extracting warm indoor air out of the property, the plasma filter cleans the air using non-thermal plasma (ionisation) technology and returns it directly back into the kitchen, helping reduce the heat loss that comes with traditional ducted extraction.
Fitted onto the motor outlet behind the chimney section, this filter replaces the charcoal stage of a recirculating cooker hood. As air passes through, an ionising field treats cooking odours, smoke, grease particles, pollen and other airborne impurities — helping keep the kitchen feeling cleaner both during and after cooking.
No switches, no settings — it activates itself. The plasma filter is triggered automatically by air pressure as soon as the cooker hood motor starts drawing air through it. Simply turn your hood on as normal, and the filter begins working the moment air starts flowing — there's nothing extra to switch on, no separate control, and nothing to remember. Turn the hood off and the filter stops with it.
Unlike a charcoal filter, which saturates and needs replacing every 3–4 months, this is a self-cleaning, long-life filter with an expected service life of up to 10 years and no regular filter changes. Based on current charcoal filter pricing, that can work out to an estimated saving of over £450 across a 10-year period — see the full breakdown on our [Plasma Filters category page].
The filter is a genuine universal fit: supplied with a reducer collar so the same unit fits both 150mm and 125mm round motor outlets, covering the vast majority of recirculating cooker hoods on the market, not just Luxair models. It runs on a low-energy 12V DC supply (12 watts), operates silently, and is supplied with a 3-pin 12V adapter plug for straightforward plug-and-play installation — no wiring required.
Universal Fit
Designed for use with most recirculating cooker hoods, making it a simple upgrade for a wide range of kitchen extraction setups.
Automatic Activation
No switches or settings needed — the filter is triggered by air pressure and starts working automatically the moment your hood is turned on and air begins to flow. Turn the hood off and it stops with it.
Cleaner Kitchen Air
Helps reduce cooking odours, grease particles, smoke, pollen, allergens and other airborne impurities before the air is returned to the room.
No Outside Ducting Needed
Works with recirculation, so cleaned air is returned back into the kitchen instead of being extracted outside.
Helps Reduce Heat Loss
Because warm air is recirculated rather than vented outdoors, the filter can help reduce heat and energy loss from the home.
Long-Life Alternative To Charcoal Filters
A money-saving upgrade compared with regularly replacing traditional charcoal filters.
Self-Cleaning Filter Design
Designed to be low maintenance, with no regular filter cleaning or replacement required.
Quiet Operation
Runs silently and does not add extra noise to your cooker hood.
Low Energy Consumption
Uses only 12 watts with efficient DC technology and a 12 volt power supply.
Lightweight And Easy To Install
Compact, lightweight design for straightforward installation with compatible cooker hood outlets.
Up To 10 Years Expected Service Life
Built for long-term use under normal household conditions.
7 Year Guarantee
Supplied with a Luxair 7 year guarantee for added peace of mind.

Home Visit & Installation Advice
Confused? Unsure? Let Us Help You Choose A Kitchen Extractor
Luxair
Cooker Hoods now offer a site visit by one of our qualified in-house
engineers, where they will advise on the best option regarding what
cooker hood suits your kitchen needs, they can also advise on the best
way to run your ducting or if re-circulation may be best for your
setup.
An installation service is also available upon request and
completion of a Site or home Survey. Prices will vary dependent on
installation required and will be quoted once an engineer has made his
visit and all necessary observations are made in relation to your cooker
hood installation.
What you need to know:
Another
important reason to consider a site survey is to identify the most
suitable cooker hood for the location of your kitchen or bathroom.
We will look at the very best option, taking into consideration the size
of your kitchen, if the ceiling construction is suitable for a ceiling
cooker hood, any potential regulation requirements and above all the
correct motor size and ducting route to give you the optimum extraction
you require.
Your Site Survey:
During a
site survey, your Luxair engineer will discuss your requirements, taking
into consideration the appropriate extraction output for the room, the
relevant location within the kitchen and the most suitable
ducting system for your cooker hood. If the installation is new, the
site survey will identify the requirements for the ducting system,
ventilation and clearances to any combustible materials to maintain safe
use. The site survey will allow your Luxair engineer to provide you
with the best advice, consequently avoiding any unexpected expense.
Please
Note: All site surveys will be booked in directly with the engineers,
who will contact you within 1 - 7 working days of your payment being
processed. Our engineers will call you to arrange a date and time that
is convenient to you. Book Here
