Ducted or Filtered Options
Choose outside ducting or the ceramic plinth kit for your extractor.
Add Each selected component, including round and flat components. Match the dimensions and connections for this extractor. Arcus uses a 220 × 90mm outlet; use a compatible adapter for 150mm round ducting.
125mm requires a connection from the 150mm motor outlet to reduce it to the 125mm ducting.
i Why do I need a filter?
Without outside ducting, air returns to your kitchen. A recirculating filter helps reduce cooking odours before the air returns to the room.

220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting Pipe — 1 Metre
This is the standard 1 metre straight section of 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting pipe, suitable for cooker hood installations with motor speeds up to 1,200m³/hr. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" ducting range.
Pipe ends are female and will accept male fittings — bends, grilles, and connectors. To join two lengths of pipe on a straight run, use a male connector from the System150 range. All connections are push-fit and airtight — no ducting tape required at any joint.
Why Rigid Flat Ducting Outperforms Flexible Aluminium Pipe
Rigid flat ducting is significantly more efficient than flexible aluminium pipe. Flexible aluminium tube has a corrugated interior surface that creates turbulence and resistance in the airflow, reducing extraction performance — particularly over longer duct runs. The smooth interior walls of rigid flat ducting allow air to travel freely with minimal resistance, delivering consistently higher extraction rates from the same motor. Luxair recommends rigid flat ducting for all ceiling extractor hoods and all extractors with a minimum motor speed of 650m³/hr.
Construction
Manufactured from flame-retardant polymer — lightweight, durable, and simple to fit throughout. The push-fit airtight connector system is patented and requires no ducting tape at any joint, ensuring a high-performance extraction run without suction loss.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting

220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting Pipe — 200mm Short Section
This is a 200mm short section of 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting pipe — the same push-fit airtight System150 component as the 1 metre pipe, in a short length for specific installation scenarios. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" ducting range.
Primary Use — Connecting Ceiling Hood Flat Radial Motors to Round Ducting
This short section is most commonly used to bridge the flat motor outlet of a Luxair ceiling cooker hood to the round ducting run above it, using one of the following System150 adapters:
Option 1 — Horizontal transition:
Use the 150mm Round to 220mm × 90mm Horizontal Connector — connects the flat motor outlet horizontally to a 150mm round duct run.
Option 2 — 90° transition:
Use the 220mm × 90mm Round to Rectangular 90° Elbow — connects the flat motor outlet at a right angle into a 150mm round duct run.
In both cases, this 200mm short section provides the flat duct length needed between the motor spigot and the adapter, where a full 1 metre pipe would be impractical in the available ceiling void space.
Construction and Performance
Pipe ends are female and will accept all male System150 fittings. Manufactured from flame-retardant polymer — lightweight and simple to fit. 220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting Straight Connector
This connector joins two 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting sections together on a straight duct run, extending the run beyond a single pipe length. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Important — Use Pipe Clips Either Side of Each Joint
On longer duct runs of one metre or more, pipe clips must be fitted either side of each connector joint to prevent the ducting from sagging under its own weight. Sagging joints can break the airtight seal and reduce extraction performance. See the 220mm × 90mm flat ducting pipe clips in the Luxair System150 range.

150mm Round to 220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting — 90° Elbow
This elbow connects a 150mm round ducting pipe (or 150mm flexible aluminium tube) to a 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting pipe at a right angle. It transitions between round and flat duct formats while simultaneously changing the direction of the duct run by 90°, routing the installation smoothly through a corner without the need for a separate straight adapter and elbow. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this elbow wherever the duct run needs to both transition between round and flat formats and change direction at 90° in a single component — most commonly where a 150mm round outlet on a cooker hood or ceiling extractor meets a flat rectangular duct run that turns immediately at the connection point. It is particularly useful in ceiling hood installations where the round motor outlet transitions directly into a flat duct run running horizontally along the ceiling void or above a bulkhead.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The System150 6" Ducting Range
This component is part of the Luxair System150 range — combining 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting and 150mm round ducting, both carrying equivalent airflow rates and fully interchangeable within the system. 150mm Round to 220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting — Straight Connector
This adapter connects a 150mm round ducting pipe (or 150mm flexible aluminium tube) to a 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting pipe on a straight run, without changing the direction of the duct. Unlike the 90° elbow version of this transition, this connector makes the format change in a straight line and can be used in either a vertical or horizontal position. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this connector wherever the duct run needs to transition between round and flat formats without changing direction — for example, where a 150mm round motor outlet on a cooker hood or ceiling extractor connects directly to a flat rectangular duct run continuing in the same direction, or where a flat section terminates into a round pipe to connect to a fan or wall outlet on a straight run. The connector works equally in vertical and horizontal orientations, making it suitable for transitions at any point in the duct run regardless of whether the duct is running up through a ceiling or along a wall.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting

220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting — Vertical 45° Elbow
This elbow connects two 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting sections at a vertical 45° angle, routing the duct run through a gentle direction change without restricting airflow. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
45° vs 90° — When to Use Each
Where the installation allows, a 45° elbow is preferable to a 90° elbow — the gentler angle creates less turbulence and back-pressure in the airflow, maintaining better extraction efficiency through the bend. Use a 45° elbow where the duct run changes direction gradually, and a 90° elbow only where a sharp right-angle turn is unavoidable. Two 45° elbows can also be combined to achieve a 90° change in direction with significantly less airflow resistance than a single 90° elbow.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this elbow where a flat rectangular duct run needs to change direction vertically at a 45° angle — typically where a duct run drops down from a ceiling void at an angle, transitions over an obstacle, or where a gradual vertical direction change is needed within a run above kitchen units or within a bulkhead.
All components connect by push-fit for a patent-protected airtight seal with no ducting tape, adhesive, or clips required. The full range includes straight pipe sections, bends, elbows, connectors, adapters, and wall vents to complete any standard extraction installation.
✓ 220mm × 90mm flat ducting vertical 45° elbow — connects two flat rectangular duct sections at a gentle 45° vertical angle

220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting — Horizontal 90° Elbow
This elbow connects two 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting sections at a horizontal right angle, routing the duct run smoothly through a 90° corner in the horizontal plane without restricting airflow. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this elbow where a flat rectangular duct run needs to change direction horizontally — typically where the duct turns a corner along a wall at the same height, such as running along the top of kitchen wall units and turning a room corner, or where a duct run follows the perimeter of a room and changes direction within a ceiling soffit or above a bulkhead. The horizontal elbow keeps the duct run at a consistent height throughout the turn, whereas the vertical elbow changes the height of the run.
45° Alternative for Better Airflow
Where the installation permits, using two 220mm × 90mm 45° vertical elbows in combination achieves the same effective direction change as a single 90° elbow with significantly less airflow resistance and back-pressure. If extraction performance is a priority and space allows, the two-elbow approach is the preferred solution.
220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting — Vertical 90° Elbow
This elbow connects two 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting sections at a vertical right angle, routing the duct run smoothly through a 90° corner in the vertical plane without restricting airflow. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this elbow where a flat rectangular duct run needs to change direction vertically — typically where the duct leaves the hood body and turns to run horizontally along a wall or into a ceiling void, or where a horizontal run drops down into a vertical section to connect to a wall vent or outlet. The vertical elbow changes the height of the duct run through the turn, whereas the horizontal elbow keeps the run at a consistent height throughout the corner.
45° Alternative for Better Airflow
Where the installation permits, using two 220mm × 90mm 45° vertical elbows in combination achieves the same effective 90° direction change with significantly less airflow resistance and back-pressure than a single 90° elbow. If extraction performance is a priority and space allows, the two-elbow approach is the preferred solution.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting

220mm × 90mm Flexible Ducting Rubber Boot — Adjustable 30° to 90°
The 220mm × 90mm rubber ducting boot is the solution for installation scenarios where a standard rigid 45° or 90° elbow won't work. Where the duct run needs to navigate around a pipe, joist, cable, beam, or other obstruction in a tight ceiling void — and where the exact angle required isn't a standard 45° or 90° — this flexible rubber boot adjusts to any angle between 30° and 90° for a precise custom fit on site.
Where This Component Is Used
This boot is particularly suited to ceiling cooker hood installations where the slimline flat motor outlet needs to transition into the duct run in a restricted ceiling void with limited clearance. It also provides 10mm of lateral adjustment left or right — useful where the motor outlet and the duct run are not perfectly aligned, as is common with slimline motor housings in tight joist spaces where positional accuracy is difficult to achieve.
Why Rubber vs Rigid Plastic
Unlike rigid plastic elbow connectors, the rubber boot absorbs motor vibration at the connection point — preventing vibration noise from being transmitted through the duct into the ceiling structure. On ceiling extractor installations where the motor is within the ceiling void, this vibration isolation is a meaningful improvement in the quietness of the overall installation. Multiple boots can be combined along the same duct run for maximum flexibility throughout.
Fitting Note
The rubber boot uses a tight-fit female connection for a secure hold. Ducting tape is recommended at the connection points for additional security and to ensure an airtight seal — unlike the push-fit components in the System150 range, this boot relies on the tape to complete the seal.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The System150 6" Ducting Range
This boot is compatible with the Luxair System150 220mm × 90mm flat ducting range. The full System150 range includes rigid straight pipe sections, elbows, connectors, adapters, and wall vents — use rigid components wherever possible and the rubber boot where rigid components cannot be fitted.
✓ 220mm × 90mm flexible rubber ducting boot — adjustable to any angle between 30° and 90° for a custom fit on site
✓ 10mm lateral adjustment — left or right, accommodating misalignment between motor outlet and duct run
✓ Vibration-free connection — rubber construction absorbs motor vibration, reducing noise transmission through ceiling structure

220mm × 90mm Flat Ducting Flexible Hose — Extends to 500mm
This flexible hose connects two 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting sections and extends up to 500mm, bending at virtually any angle to route the duct run around obstacles or through tight spaces. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this flexible hose where rigid System150 components cannot be installed due to restricted access, irregular angles, or obstructions within the duct run — such as ceiling joists, pipes, beams, or cables in tight ceiling voids. It is particularly suited to ceiling cooker hood installations where the duct must navigate between joists or up and over structural obstacles where a fixed-angle rigid elbow would be impractical or physically impossible to fit.
Use Rigid Components Wherever Possible
Rigid flat duct sections and push-fit elbows should always be used wherever the installation allows. Flexible hose creates more airflow resistance than rigid ducting due to its non-smooth interior, which reduces extraction performance — particularly over longer flexible sections. Use this hose only where rigid components genuinely cannot be fitted, and keep the flexible section as short and straight as possible to minimise resistance in the duct run.
The full range includes rigid straight pipe sections, elbows, connectors, adapters, and wall vents — use rigid components wherever possible and this flexible hose only where rigid components cannot be fitted.
✓ 220mm × 90mm flat ducting flexible hose — extends up to 500mm; bends at virtually any angle
✓ Connects two 220mm × 90mm flat ducting sections — at any required angle without a fixed-degree rigid elbow
✓ Ideal for ceiling hood installations — navigates between joists, around structural obstacles and through tight ceiling voids
✓ Use rigid components wherever possible — flexible hose creates more airflow resistance than rigid ducting; keep flexible section as short and straight as possible
✓ Part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range — use where rigid System150 components cannot be fitted
✓ Suitable for kitchen, bathroom, utility room and whole-house extract systems
✓ Fast UK despatch — express overnight service available
150mm Round Ducting Pipe — 1 Metre
This is the standard 1 metre straight section of 150mm round rigid ducting pipe, suitable for cooker hood installations with motor speeds up to 1,200m³/hr. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where the installation allows, 150mm ducting should always be the preferred choice for any extractor hood — the larger diameter reduces airflow resistance, maintains motor extraction performance across longer duct runs, and allows the hood to operate more quietly at any given extraction speed. Join lengths together using a 150mm round connector from the System150 range — push-fit airtight, no ducting tape required at any joint.
Why Rigid Round Ducting Outperforms Flexible Aluminium Pipe
Rigid round ducting is significantly more efficient than flexible aluminium pipe. Flexible aluminium tube has a corrugated interior surface that creates turbulence and resistance in the airflow, reducing extraction performance — particularly over longer duct runs. The smooth interior walls of rigid round ducting allow air to travel freely with minimal resistance, delivering consistently higher extraction rates from the same motor. For any installation where rigid ducting can be fitted, it is always the preferred choice over flexible aluminium pipe.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting

150mm Round Ducting Straight Connector
This connector joins two 150mm round rigid ducting sections together on a straight duct run, extending the run beyond a single pipe length. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Why Round Rigid Ducting Outperforms Flexible and Rectangular Alternatives
Round rigid ducting delivers superior airflow performance compared to both flexible aluminium tube and rectangular ducting of a comparable size. The circular cross-section and smooth interior walls minimise turbulence and resistance, allowing the motor to extract at its rated capacity across the full length of the duct run. Where 150mm round ducting can be installed, it should always be the preferred choice for maximum extraction efficiency.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting

150mm Round Ducting — 90° Elbow
This elbow connects two 150mm round rigid ducting sections at a right angle, routing the duct run smoothly through a 90° corner without restricting airflow. It is part of the Luxair System150 6" push-fit airtight ducting range.
Where This Component Is Used
This elbow is particularly suited to wall-mounted cooker hood installations where the duct is taken directly through the outside wall behind the extractor fan. The elbow connects the round outlet of the hood to the duct section passing through the wall — turning the run from vertical to horizontal in a single component directly behind the hood. It can also be used at any point in a round duct run where a 90° direction change is required.
45° Alternative for Better Airflow
Where the installation permits, using two 150mm 45° elbows in combination achieves the same effective 90° direction change with significantly less airflow resistance and back-pressure than a single 90° elbow. If extraction performance is a priority and space allows, the two-elbow approach is the preferred solution.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The System150 6" Ducting Range
This component is part of the Luxair System150 range — combining 150mm round ducting and 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting, both carrying equivalent airflow rates and fully interchangeable within the system via adapters. 150mm Aluminium Flexible Hose — Expands from 120mm to 3 Metres, Fire Retardant
This 150mm aluminium flexible hose is designed to connect directly from the motor unit outlet of a cooker hood to the start of the rigid ducting run. It expands from a compressed length of 120mm up to 3 metres, providing sufficient flexibility to bridge the gap between the motor spigot and the first rigid duct section, accommodating minor misalignments and motor vibration in the connection.
Fire Retardant — Why This Matters
Aluminium flexible hose is fire retardant and will not melt or shrink when exposed to the high temperatures produced during cooking and extraction. This makes it the only appropriate material for the section of ducting directly connected to the cooker hood motor. For maximum safety, always use aluminium flexible hose or rigid ducting for cooker hood installations — never plastic.
⚠ Never Use Plastic Washer-Dryer Hose on a Cooker Hood
White PVC washer-dryer hose must never be used as cooker hood ducting under any circumstances. PVC hose is not fire retardant — it will melt, shrink, and collapse when exposed to cooking temperatures, creating a serious fire hazard. Despite being a similar diameter to some cooker hood outlets, washer-dryer hose is completely unsuitable for extraction use. Always use aluminium flexible hose or rigid ducting throughout a cooker hood installation.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The System150 6" Ducting Range
This hose is compatible with the Luxair System150 150mm round ducting range. The full System150 range includes rigid round and flat pipe sections, bends, elbows, connectors, adapters, and wall vents. Use ducting tape or a collar connector at joints where push-fit components are not used to ensure an airtight seal throughout the duct run.
✓ 150mm aluminium flexible hose — expands from 120mm to 3 metres
✓ Fire retardant — will not melt or shrink at cooking temperatures; the only appropriate material for direct motor outlet connections
✓ ⚠ Never use plastic washer-dryer hose on a cooker hood — PVC hose is not fire retardant and is a serious fire hazard in extraction installations

150mm Semi-Rigid Aluminium Flexible Ducting — 3 Metres
This is a 3 metre length of 150mm semi-rigid aluminium flexible ducting. Unlike fully flexible corrugated tube, this semi-rigid hose can be bent into shape by hand and holds the position it is formed into — making it suitable for duct runs that require a firm, fixed-shape flexible section rather than a loose, unsupported hose. It is compatible with the Luxair System150 6" ducting range.
Important — Not a Push-Fit Self-Sealing Component
This semi-rigid hose does not self-seal at connections. A 150mm collar connector is required to join this hose to 150mm rigid ducting pipe, and ducting tape should be used at all joints to ensure an airtight seal. Unlike the push-fit components in the System150 range, this hose relies on the collar and tape to
complete the connection.
When to Use Semi-Rigid vs Rigid Ducting
Semi-rigid flexible hose is the correct choice where rigid pipe sections cannot be installed due to restricted access, irregular angles, or tight spaces — but where a fully flexible corrugated tube would be too unsupported or loose for the installation. The semi-rigid construction holds the formed shape without additional support, making it particularly useful for short transition sections
between rigid duct runs. For maximum extraction efficiency, keep the flexible section as short as possible — the 4mm corrugation depth creates more airflow resistance than smooth-walled rigid pipe.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
The System150 6" Ducting Range
This hose is compatible with the Luxair System150 range — combining 150mm round ducting and 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting, both carrying equivalent airflow rates
and fully interchangeable within the system via adapters. Use rigid components wherever possible and this semi-rigid hose only where rigid components cannot be fitted.
✓ 150mm semi-rigid aluminium flexible ducting — 3 metre length
✓ Hand-bendable and shape-retaining — forms into
position and holds without additional support; suitable for firm flexible sections

150mm to 125mm Ducting Reducer Collar — 6" to 5"
This reducer collar steps down the ducting diameter from 150mm (6") to 125mm (5"), connecting a 150mm round spigot or duct outlet to a 125mm round ducting run. It is most commonly used to connect the motor housing spigot of a cooker hood or extractor fan directly to a 125mm round duct pipe where the motor outlet is 150mm but the duct run is 125mm. It is part of the Luxair 6" airtight ducting system.
Where This Component Is Used
Use this reducer wherever the ducting needs to step down from 150mm to 125mm — typically at the motor outlet where the hood's 150mm spigot connects to an existing or preferred 125mm duct run, or where a 6" duct section terminates into a 5" run. Always check your motor outlet diameter and intended duct size before ordering to confirm this is the correct reducer direction for your installation.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting
✓ 150mm to 125mm ducting reducer collar — steps down from 6" to 5" round ducting diameter

200mm to 150mm Ducting Reducer Collar — 8" to 6"
This reducer collar steps down the ducting diameter from 200mm (8") to 150mm (6"), connecting a 200mm round motor housing spigot to a 150mm round ducting run. It is most commonly used where a high-powered cooker hood with a 200mm motor outlet needs to connect to an existing 150mm duct run.
Important — Performance Warning Before Reducing
Cooker hoods with motor ratings between 950m³/hr and 1,350m³/hr must be installed with 200mm (8") ducting to maintain full extraction performance and quiet operation. Reducing to 150mm is possible using this collar but will increase operational noise levels — the restriction forces the motor to work harder to push the same volume of air through a smaller duct opening, which is audible as increased fan noise throughout the duct run. If 200mm ducting can be installed, it should always be the preferred choice for these motor ratings.
Use this reducer only where 200mm ducting is genuinely not achievable for the installation — for example, where an existing 150mm duct run is already in place and cannot be replaced, or where physical constraints in the building prevent 200mm ducting from being routed.
Where This Component Is Used
This collar connects the 200mm round spigot of the motor housing directly to the start of a 150mm round duct run.
✓ 200mm to 150mm ducting reducer collar — steps down from 8" to 6" round ducting diameter
✓ Connects 200mm motor housing spigot to 150mm round duct run — most common use at the cooker hood motor outlet
✓ ⚠ Performance warning — hoods rated 950–1,350m³/hr must use 200mm ducting for full performance; reducing to 150mm will increase operational noise levels
✓ Use only where 200mm ducting cannot be installed — reducing duct size forces the motor to work harder and increases fan noise
✓ Check motor outlet diameter before ordering — this reducer steps down from 200mm to 150mm; confirm direction before purchasing
✓ Push-fit airtight connection — no ducting tape, adhesive or clips required
✓ Suitable for kitchen, bathroom, utility room and whole-house extract systems

Aluminium Inline Ducting Silencer — 125mm and 150mm, Up to 22dB Noise Reduction
This inline ducting silencer significantly reduces the operational noise of a cooker hood extraction system by up to 22dB, depending on frequency. It fits directly into any 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") round ducting run and requires no modification to the existing installation — simply insert inline between two duct sections. Available in lengths from 460mm to 585mm — check the product title for the exact length before ordering.
How It Works
The silencer body is constructed from thick-walled aluminium tube for high stability and durability. Inside, a 25mm glass wool insert at 16kg per m³ density absorbs sound energy as extraction airflow passes through — attenuating noise across a broad frequency range by up to 22dB. The glass wool material is non-combustible, certified to DIN 4102, making it suitable for use in kitchen extraction systems where heat resistance is a requirement.
Where This Component Is Used
This silencer is fitted inline on any round ducting run — positioned between the cooker hood outlet and the wall vent to reduce the noise transmitted through the duct. It is particularly effective for ceiling cooker hood installations using round ducting, where the duct run passes through ceiling voids and the motor noise can resonate through the structure. For installations using flat rectangular ducting, use a round-to-flat converter collar to connect the flat duct sections either side of the silencer.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting

Luxair Automatic Airtight Wall Vent — 125mm (5") and 150mm (6")
The Luxair Automatic Airtight Wall Vent seals shut automatically when your extractor fan is switched off, preventing warm air from escaping through the wall duct and cold air from entering. It operates entirely by air pressure — when the extractor runs, the pressure opens the vent; when the extractor stops, low-maintenance springs return the vent to the sealed position. No electricity, no sensors, no maintenance beyond occasional cleaning.
How It Differs From a Standard Wall Vent
A standard wall vent uses a simple gravity or spring flap that provides minimal sealing — warm air escapes around the flap and wind pressure can force cold air back through the duct into the kitchen. The Luxair automatic airtight vent uses a full perimeter seal on the exterior cover, closing flush against the wall surface for maximum heat retention. Internal guide vanes reduce back-pressure within the duct run, improving extraction efficiency and reducing operating noise compared to a standard vent outlet.
Installation Guidance
For optimum performance this vent is recommended for use with cooker hoods rated above 650m³/hr — the motor needs sufficient airflow pressure to open the vent fully. Use with 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting and keep the total duct run under 4 metres for optimal airflow and heat retention performance. Suitable for airtight and energy-efficient homes where standard wall vents create unacceptable heat loss.
Ducting Size Guide
Selecting the correct ducting diameter for your motor output ensures maximum extraction performance:
- Below 450m³/hr → 100mm (4") ducting
- 450–750m³/hr → 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting
- 750–2,000m³/hr → 150mm (6") or 200mm (8") ducting

Luxair Thermobox® Heat Retention Cartridge — 125mm and 150mm
The Thermobox® is a multi-award-winning heat retention cartridge that fits within a 125mm (5") or 150mm (6") ducting vent or round ducting tube. It is a purely mechanical back-pressure shutter solution — no power required, no wiring, and it can be retrofitted to any existing ducting installation.
The Problem It Solves
Every ducted cooker hood extraction system has one weak point: the wall vent or duct outlet through the external wall. When the hood is not in use, this opening allows cold air to enter the building, warm air to escape, and on windy days produces the characteristic noisy flapping sound of standard vent flaps. In draughty or exposed properties this heat loss is continuous and significant — a permanent gap in the building's thermal envelope directly behind the kitchen.
How the Thermobox® Works
The Thermobox® ShutterTec retention system uses three flaps arranged in sequence, sealed by magnets. When closed, the three flaps create two sealed air chambers within the cartridge body. Air is a poor heat conductor — trapping it in sealed chambers creates an insulating barrier that performs up to 20 times better than a standard wall vent. When the extractor is running, air pressure from the motor opens the flaps automatically. When the hood is switched off, the magnets pull the flaps closed, sealing the chambers and restoring the insulating barrier. No power, no sensors, no maintenance.
Key Benefits
For properties in exposed or windy locations, the Thermobox® also eliminates the noise of flapping vent covers and prevents cold air being pushed back into the kitchen by wind pressure — a common problem with single-flap wall vents that standard back-draught shutters cannot fully address.

Construction and Finish
Fabricated by hand from 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish throughout. 304 grade is the standard for exterior architectural metalwork — it resists rust, salt air, and UV degradation without coating or treatment. Integrated louvres provide effective airflow when the extractor is running while directing moisture and debris away from the duct opening. Suitable for exterior wall mounting on any standard masonry, render, or cladding surface.
Applications
These vents are suitable for any exterior wall ventilation outlet including kitchen extractor fans, bathroom exhaust systems, utility room ventilation, HVAC and air circulation systems, and dryer vents.

Rectangular External Wall Vent — 220mm × 90mm and 150mm × 70mm Flat Ducting
This is the correct external wall vent for installations using 220mm × 90mm or 150mm × 70mm flat rectangular ducting. Designed and made exclusively for Luxair, it features a push-fit locking system and a built-in draught-proof non-return internal valve — preventing cold air, wind, and odours from entering through the duct when the extractor is not in use. Available in White, Terracotta, and Anthracite Grey.
Push-Fit Lock System
This vent uses the same patented push-fit system as the Luxair flat ducting range — connecting with an airtight seal and locking securely in place with no ducting tape, adhesive, or fixings required. It is designed to work as an integrated component of the Luxair flat ducting system rather than a generic add-on vent.
Non-Return Draught-Proof Valve
The internal non-return valve closes automatically when the extractor is switched off, sealing the duct outlet against reverse airflow, cold draughts, and wind pressure. The valve opens under extractor airflow pressure and requires no power or maintenance.
UV-Protected Plastic Construction
The vent body is manufactured from UV-protected plastic — resistant to fading, discolouration, and degradation from prolonged sun exposure on exterior wall surfaces. Available in three colours to complement a range of exterior wall finishes.

Handmade 220mm × 90mm Plinth or Wall Grille Vent — Push-Clip, No Drilling
This handmade stainless steel grille vent is designed specifically for 220mm × 90mm flat channel ducting and fits using a push-clip system — no screws and no drilling required. It is suitable for installation as a plinth grille at the base of kitchen cabinetry, or as a wall vent on interior or exterior surfaces. Available in multiple colours — check the product title for the colour option you are ordering. This is the only vent in the Luxair range designed for 220mm × 90mm flat ducting.
Where This Vent Is Used
The 220mm × 90mm plinth grille is the correct outlet vent for flat channel ducting systems — most commonly used with Arcus venting induction hobs in recirculation mode, where the extracted air is returned through charcoal filters and discharged through a plinth grille at the front of the base unit. It is also suitable as a wall vent for any installation using 220mm × 90mm flat rectangular ducting.
Fitting
The push-clip system requires no screws and no drilling — the grille clips directly into the duct opening. The low-profile design sits flush against the plinth or wall surface for a clean, considered finish that suits both modern kitchen cabinetry and exterior wall installations.
Construction and Finish
Handmade from 304 grade stainless steel or matt painted steel finish — rust-proof, corrosion-resistant, and durable for both internal and external use. Available in multiple colours to match kitchen cabinetry plinths or exterior wall finishes.
Applications
Suitable for kitchen and bathroom exhaust systems, Arcus venting hob recirculation discharge, HVAC and air circulation systems, and utility room ventilation in domestic and commercial settings.

Handmade Stainless Steel External Wall Vent with Backdraft Shutter
These premium stainless steel external wall vents are handmade and feature a built-in backdraft shutter — mechanically closing when the extractor is off to prevent cold draughts, cooking odours, wind, and insects from entering through the wall duct. Available in 100mm, 125mm, and 150mm to suit standard kitchen extractor fan and bathroom ventilation ducting. Select your size from the options above and check the product title to confirm the correct size before ordering.
Backdraft Shutter — How It Works
The backdraft shutter is built directly into the vent body and operates entirely by air pressure. When the extractor runs, airflow pressure pushes the shutter open. When the extractor switches off, the shutter closes automatically — sealing the duct outlet against reverse airflow, wind pressure, and draughts. No power, no wiring, and no maintenance required.
Construction and Finish
Handmade from stainless steel with a brushed exterior finish — weatherproof, rust-resistant, and designed to complement modern exterior wall surfaces. The stainless steel construction ensures long-term durability in all-weather conditions without fading, discolouring, or degrading over time.
Pair With the Luxair Heat Retention Valve
For maximum energy efficiency in airtight or modern fabric-first homes, pair this vent with the Luxair heat retention valve for complete draught elimination and significantly reduced heat loss through the wall duct when the extractor is not in use.

The Luxair premium round steel wall vent
...is a handmade steel ventilation grille for the external or internal termination of a round cooker hood ducting run — available in stainless steel, matt black, white, and anthracite to match your kitchen exterior, render finish, or surrounding fixtures. Built from hand-finished steel rather than moulded plastic, it's a permanent, weather-resistant fitting with an integrated fly screen, available with an optional 100mm or 125mm connector collar to complete the installation in a single order.
Round vs Square — Which Wall Vent Do You Need?
Both the round and square Luxair steel vents perform identically and share the same features — the choice is purely about aesthetics and compatibility with your wall and ducting run. The round vent is the natural choice when your ducting run uses round pipe throughout, as the circular profile aligns directly with the round duct and requires no transition at the wall face. It also suits period properties, brick-built homes, and any exterior where a circular vent reads as more traditional or sympathetic to the building's architecture. The square vent suits contemporary rendered exteriors, new builds, and modern kitchens where clean geometric lines are preferred. Both are available in the same four colours — choose based on your building and personal preference.
External or Internal — One Grille, Both Uses
The round steel vent works equally well as an external wall vent terminating the ducting run on the outside face of an exterior wall, or as an internal wall grille where ducting passes through a partition wall and a finished face is needed on the internal side. The steel construction handles outdoor exposure without rusting, warping, or discolouring — unlike plastic louvre vents that become brittle and discoloured within a few years of UV and weather exposure.
Integrated Fly Screen — Insect Protection Built In
Every Luxair round steel wall vent includes a built-in fly screen permanently integrated behind the grille face — preventing insects, wasps, and spiders from entering the ducting run when the extractor is off. The screen is fixed into the vent body rather than being a clip-on component, so it won't fall out, get lost, or be inadvertently removed during cleaning.
Four Finishes — Matched to Your Exterior or Interior
Stainless steel is the most weather-resistant option and suits modern kitchens and contemporary exterior finishes — corrosion-proof and low maintenance indefinitely. Matt black coordinates with dark exterior joinery, black window frames, and bold kitchen schemes where a standard white vent would stand out. White is the most versatile choice for rendered exteriors, painted brickwork, white PVC surrounds, and white-walled interiors. Anthracite suits grey render, aluminium framing, and the darker exterior palettes increasingly popular in new build and renovation projects across the UK.
Optional Connector Collar — Complete the Job in One Order
Add a 100mm or 125mm connector collar to connect the duct pipe inside the wall directly to the back of the vent grille — the fitting that completes the connection between your ducting run and the vent face. 6" options will fit straight onto 150mm rigid pipe or semi rigid ducting. Ducting tape is recommended around the collar joint to ensure a fully airtight seal at the wall termination point. If you already have the correct collar, select "Not Required". All other components for your ducting run are available as related products at the bottom of this page — add everything in one visit.

The Luxair premium square steel wall vent
...is a handmade steel ventilation grille designed for the external or internal termination of a cooker hood ducting run — available in stainless steel, matt black, white, and anthracite to match your kitchen exterior, internal wall finish, or existing fixtures. Unlike mass-produced plastic louvre vents, this is a hand-finished steel grille built to last the lifetime of your kitchen installation, with an integrated fly screen and a weighted backdraught shutter that closes automatically when the extractor is off. Available with an optional 100mm or 125mm connector collar to complete the connection in a single order.
External or Internal — Two Uses, One Grille
This vent works equally well as an external wall vent — terminating the ducting run on the outside face of an exterior wall, allowing extracted cooking air to exit the building — or as an internal wall grille — used where ducting passes through a partition wall into another void or space and a clean, finished face is needed on the internal side. The square steel profile sits flush against brick, render, timber cladding, and internal plaster equally well, making it the right choice for both applications in a single product.
Integrated Fly Screen — Keeps Insects Out
Every Luxair square steel wall vent includes a built-in fly screen behind the grille face — essential for external installations where insects, wasps, and spiders would otherwise enter the ducting run when the extractor is off. The fine mesh screen is integrated into the vent body rather than clipped on separately, so it stays in place permanently without the risk of falling out or being accidentally removed during cleaning.
Four Finishes — Matched to Your Kitchen or Exterior
Stainless steel suits kitchens with stainless appliances and modern exteriors — and resists corrosion and weathering indefinitely on external walls. Matt black coordinates with dark kitchen schemes, black window frames, and contemporary exterior finishes where a standard white vent would stand out. White is the most popular choice for painted rendered exteriors, white PVC window surrounds, and internal walls with white plasterwork. Anthracite is the go-to for grey rendered exteriors, aluminium window frames, and kitchens with dark grey or slate colour schemes — the fastest-growing finish choice in new-build and renovation projects.
Optional Connector Collar — Complete the Job in One Order

Home Visit & Installation Advice
Confused? Unsure? Let Us Help You Choose A Kitchen Extractor
Luxair Cooker Hoods now offer a site visit by one of our qualified in-house engineers, where they will advise on the best option regarding what cooker hood suits your kitchen needs, they can also advise on the best way to run your ducting or if re-circulation may be best for your setup.
An installation service is also available upon request and completion of a Site or home Survey. Prices will vary dependent on installation
required and will be quoted once an engineer has made his visit and all necessary observations are made in relation to your cooker hood
installation.
What you need to know:
Another important reason to consider a site survey is to identify the most suitable cooker hood for the location of your kitchen or bathroom.
We will look at the very best option, taking into consideration the size of your kitchen, if the ceiling construction is suitable for a ceiling cooker hood, any potential regulation requirements and above all the correct motor size and ducting route to give you the optimum extraction you require.
Your Site Survey:
During a site survey, your Luxair engineer will discuss your requirements, taking
into consideration the appropriate extraction output for the room, the relevant location within the kitchen and the most suitable
ducting system for your cooker hood. If the installation is new, the
site survey will identify the requirements for the ducting system,
ventilation and clearances to any combustible materials to maintain safe use. The site survey will allow your Luxair engineer to provide you with the best advice, consequently avoiding any unexpected expense.
Please Note: All site surveys will be booked in directly with the engineers, who will contact you within 1 - 7 working days of your payment being processed. Our engineers will call you to arrange a date and time that is convenient to you. Book Here
